The Geochemistry Department at Sandia National Laboratories (Albuquerque, New Mexico) seeks a postdoctoral research scientist to investigate the effects of nano-scale confinement on the mineral-water interfacial processes. This project will entail working with meso-porous materials, addressing redox and adsorption reactions, designing and running laboratory experiments, analyzing data and writing publications. This position provides close collaboration with computational chemists at the Geochemistry Department at Sandia in order to develop a molecular-scale understanding of the emergent behavior at the mineral-water interface under nano-scale confinement. There will be opportunities to grow and develop various aspects of the project. A Ph.D. (within the last five years) in materials science, chemistry, geochemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline with experience in experimental and analytical work is required. Relevant background in aqueous speciation analysis and synchrotron-based X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy is desired.
